When filing for child support there are a couple different ways that you can go about it in Colorado. One way that you could go is to contact Child Support Enforcement in the county where you reside. They will go and establish child support for you. They will not do anything about allocation of parental responsibilities, in terms of parenting time or decision making.
If all you’re wanting to do is get a child support number entered, then you could contact your local Child Support Enforcement, and see if they would be willing to help you. Otherwise, child support in Colorado is established by a petition for dissolution of marriage proceeding, or a post decree motion filed in that proceeding, or in an allocation of parental responsibilities proceeding. Those are the two areas where you could get an order establishing child support, in addition to establishing parenting time and decision making.
